In the eyes of many people, tanning beds offer our society a way of maintaining beauty by having skin that has a beautiful and desired color to it. Think about it. Does anyone who has ever gone to the pool with pale, pasty white skin usually appear to be extremely confident? Tanning beds are also very fast and convenient for the busy people of today's society. Morning or evening, people can get a deep golden color almost any time that they would like.
For some people, taking the time to tan gives them amazing self confidence. Tanning, for many people, has been known to give them some time in their day to unwind and relax from the stress around them. This is time spent focusing on pampering themselves rather than taking care of someone else's problems. Tanning beds also are viewed as a way to help the body produce more Vitamin D that helps keep bones, teeth, and joints healthy.
No matter your age, from teenagers to adults, people have the desire to look good and feel good about themselves. Sometimes, this desire is so strong that they forget about the negative impact of their choices. The most important thing is that people are being educated about the choices that they make, so they can make the right decision for themselves in the end.

I love this blog because it makes me not want to go tan! Hahah! I started tanning around 7th grade and I wish I was never even introduced to it! It's totally true that tanning makes me feel better, but if i keep it up I'm probably going to look like an 80 year old when I'm 20, or even worse, get skin cancer! ;/ I recently stopped going so hopefully i can keep it up! ;)
ReplyDeleteI only go tanning before spring break because I do not like to look pale on the beach! I agree that tanning gives you confidence and being pale makes me very paranoid. I have also heard that sometimes, dermatologists tell people with acne to go tanning to help calm it. Is this true? Does tanning really help reduce the look of acne? If this is true I think it would be a difficult decision to decide between the long-term risks and the short-term benefits of tanning.
ReplyDeleteHannah this is so true. I know that I go tanning in the winter and when I get pale because I do not like being pasty white. I like to have some color, but that is probably not the best idea. And that is so true that people go tanning to unwind and relax because when I go tanning, I look forward to laying there for 20 minutes in quiet and falling asleep. It is just so relaxing but it is so unhealthy for the skin! :/
